10 Things You Should Know Before Your First Appointment // Part II

10 Things You Should Know Before Your First Appointment

We’re back with 5 more things you should know before your first appointment!

6 / Stay away from gowns outside your budget

We often have brides ask to try on gowns that are drastically outside their budget. We are fine with putting you in the gown of course, but the worst part about our job is seeing a heartbroken bride because she fell in love with a gown she couldn’t afford!

7 / Bridal sizing stinks

Once we’ve taken your measurements and explain sizing to you, please don’t get caught up in the number! Bridal sizing typically runs small, and loves to make you feel bad about yourself. Just go with the flow and pretend that the numbers don’t exist!

8 / Venue vs. gown

Your gown can be whatever you want it to be. You can then make the details of the wedding match you, not the other way around. It’s important to feel confident in what you’re wearing the entire night instead of worrying if your gown reflects your venue!

9 / Not everyone cries

Time and time again we have brides who wait for that big emotional meltdown to confirm that the gown they love is THE ONE, but not every bride does. Your bridal gown is absolutely one of the most memorable clothing purchases you will ever make, but its ultimately just another piece of clothing. Do you cry when you find the perfect pair of jeans? Probably not, you just know they are the winner because of how you feel in them! And if you do cry, that’s perfectly normal too! We all express our emotions differently.

10 / HAVE FUN!

With all the planning and stress that comes along with the wedding, your bridal gown shopping experience should be the most fun (except for the big day of course)! It’s okay to be nervous but don’t stress yourself out too much. You’ll find the gown, don’t worry!

Trust your wedding gown intuition! You’ve got this + we are here to help you any way we can.

Now you’re all ready for that appointment, babe! We can’t wait to help you find your dream gown!

10 Things You Should Know Before Your First Appointment // Part I

10 Things You Should Know Before Your First Appointment

Hey #FutureMrs!

Many brides feel clueless on what to expect for their first bridal appointment, which can definitely add to the stress of wedding planning! So we’re giving you the rundown on what to expect. Don’t be scared, by the end of this you’ll be an expert + ready for your appointment!

1 / Come with an open mind

If we had a dollar for every time a bride came in looking for one style and fell in love with the total opposite, let’s just say we’d be giving out wedding gowns for free! Go outside your comfort zone & try all silhouettes. The worst that can happen is you say no! We promise it will make you feel better knowing you gave it a try and didn’t like it instead of always wondering.

2 / You’ll be best friends with your stylist by the end of your appointment

As your personal bridal stylist, it’s our job to clip and adjust the samples to make them look as realistic as possible, which sometimes means we will be in your personal bubble! Also be prepared to strip down to your bra & underwear, sometimes less! We’ve seen just about everything in the fitting rooms, so nothing you do (or don’t) is going to offend us! (But please do wear underwear….yes this has happened) The most important thing is that you feel comfortable!

3 / Your opinion matters the most

It’s great to have your #bridetribe and family’s opinion of course, but remember: you’re the one who has to wear the gown. You don’t want to look back and regret the decision you made! Just make sure you make the decision for YOU and no one else!

4 / The search can be as easy or as hard as you make it

FOMO is real, and some brides feel they need to go to 10 different bridal stores just to make sure they didn’t miss anything. But going multiple places can be extremely overwhelming! Here’s the thing: if you feel great in the gown, it has everything you asked for and you don’t want to take it off, chances are you’ve found THE one!

5 / Speak up!

If you don’t like a dress, tell your stylist and try to communicate what it is that you don’t like about it. It won’t hurt our feelings, we promise! It makes it much easier if we can work it out together instead of pulling the same gowns over and over with the same details you don’t like. And don’t worry if you don’t understand our bridal terminology, just ask and we can break it down for you!

Stay tuned for part II in our next post!

Sara Gabriel

Sara Gabriel Trunk Show

We’re putting the spotlight on one of our favorite ladies, who happens to have a trunk show coming up here at La Jeune Mariee January 24-26! If you’re a #futuremrs looking to add some sparkle to your wedding day look, Sara’s your gal!

Denver-based Sara Gabriel creates wedding accessories with vintage-inspirations that embody the spirited traditionalist.

Having grown my tiny company into one of the most sought-after and recognizable brands in the industry, I am committed to staying true to my roots. I create my designs in the most difficult way possible: completely by hand, one at a time and just for you from beginning to end. Every veil is individually cut, every crystal is hand placed and every lace appliqué attached one at a time, just like the first pieces I made over 18 years ago. Not everyone does it this way but I believe that the care and love my team and I put into each piece will show from the moment you open your box to the moment you walk down the aisle!

Sara is SO much fun + we can’t wait for her to join us again at our boutique!

Veils, headpieces, jewelry, sashes + gown changers - all hand crafted one at a time just for you, #bridebabe

I design my collection each year with one eye on traditional elements that grant a timeless quality to the brides who wear them, and the other eye on free-thinking, spirited brides who know who they are and want their personality to show. I want every one of my brides to sparkle and shine in her own way, and I use glittering Swarovski crystals, classic French laces, refined construction techniques and the softest veiling tulle imaginable to ensure they do. Ultimately, I'm inspired by you! ♥︎

Sara herself will be joining us at the trunk show to make all your accessory dreams come true!

If you thought choosing your dress was fun, just wait until you start accessorizing! Oh my gosh, it's even better! Putting your dress on again? Yes, please! Trying on oodles of sparkly things? Um, YES! A consultant or myself to help style your wedding day look? OMG! Seeing everything come together is one of the most special (and fun!) moments for a bride and I LOVE that I get to be a part of it! Psst...most boutiques also offer discounts during the show, making this good thing even better. Check below to see when my trunks will be in your neighborhood!
